EUCIP is a foundation qualification for a range of computing jobs across all sectors. This programme was developed by CEPIS, the Council of European Informatics Societies. EUCIP is awarded in Ireland by ICS Skills, the training and certification body of the Irish Computer Society.
The EUCIP programme is ideal for those with some practical and/or theoretical knowledge of IT, and dailiy computer users within the workforce with a good Pre-Intermediate knowledge of computing. It serves as a professional certication and competence development scheme aimed at IT practitioners and undergraduates. The objective of the programme is to offer certification of IT competence at an intermediate educational level to ensure a common standard, which is accepted by industry, government and public organisations. EUCIP will increase the labour market value of certified IT practitioners, and thus can contribute to the closing of the skills gap, which is threatening the continued development of the IT Industry.
Additionally as an IT qualification, EUCIP also serves as a third level diploma course, from which further undergraduate and graduate studies can be undertaken.
Learners who successfully complete this course will cover three main areas:
- Plan Knowledge Area - teaches the use and management of Information Systems
- Build Knowledge Area - covers the acquisition, development and implementation of Information Systems
- Operate Knowledge Area - deals with the operation and support of Information Systems
Detailed course descriptions with programme aims and objectives can be downloaded at www.eucip.com

HiTec Education Center will deliver this course over three months through blended learning. Learners can study at times that are convenient to them at home but they will be required to attend three full day workshops. (One workshop per unit)
Preferred Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements. It would be considered a non-essential advantage to have a basic, globally-renowned qualificatio such as ECDL.
To be awarded the EUCIP Certification, students will be required to successfully complete a set of online final examinations on all three sections of the programme.
The EUCIP programme is ideal as a foundation to all the main schools of thought within the disciplines and industries of Information Technology and IT-Business. Further study at Bachelors level would be a natural progression as an academic graduate opportunity.
EUCIP is a FETAC level 6 programme, and it is accepted by DCU for admission onto their Post Graduate Diploma in IT
